Your questions answered

Where can I get a Bikebin?

Bikebins are currently available on-line only. We want to keep our prices down for you so we have cut out the middle man and are therefore able to provide this unique product at such a competitive price.

How do I attach my Bikebin to my bike?

Nothing could be easier! All you need is any pannier rack with a tubing diameter of 6 - 12mm. The unique Rixen & Kaul fitting ensures swift and secure attachment both horizontally and vertically, thereby preventing the pannier from jumping up or swinging out. Five seconds is all it takes! See fitting instructions.

Will the Bikebin attach to any bike?

Yes, as long as the tubing of the pannier rack has a diameter between 6 and 12 mm. See fitting instructions.

We often go camping. How much does a Bikebin hold and is it possible to attach our tent somehow?

The Bikebin has a 17-litre capacity with a large flatbed area on the top of the pannier. There are eyelets which will allow you to secure the tent and anything else which need not be placed in a waterproof area.

Is there any way to customise a Bikebin? Many of our employees cycle to work and this would be a fantastic way to promote our business.

For business clients, we can provide customised Bikebins by setting up a template and using a silk screen process. This is the way for companies to promote business in a truly environmental way. Bikebins.com is currently on all the panniers but this can be replaced with company details on request. Please contact us for details.

How portable is the Bikebin?

The Bikebin has a handle but we also provide a canvas shoulder strap so it can be carried like a normal bag.

I often travel by plane both on business and for leisure. Will the Bikebin fit into the overhead locker on a plane?

Yes. The Bikebin's size fits within the size and shape restrictions for onboard luggage for most airlines.

What does 100-key camlock mean?

This is a very effective security measure. There are one hundred different keys made to fit the security lock which means that it is highly unlikely that anyone would have an identical key. To steal a Bikebin that has been locked to a bicycle, a thief would have to break the handle and then destroy the box itself.

Is it possible to use a padlock to lock the Bikebin?

There is no need. We use a 100-key system which offers maximum security.

How can I secure the Bikebin to my bicycle?

You just need pass a bike lock through the handle of the Bikebin and the back wheel and fasten in the normal way.

Can I buy Bikebins individually or do they only come in pairs?

You can buy them individually. £29.50 + carriage for one or £55.00 + carriage for a pair. They are available in black, blue, green and cerise.

Does having just one pannier affect the stability of the bike?

No, there is no evidence to indicate that this would be the case. The lower the centre of gravity, the more stable the bicycle. Care is only needed when you start stacking on top of the Bikebin.

What about visibility in the dark?

We supply reflective strips with the panniers for safe cycling with maximum visibility.

Can you fix a Bikebin to the front of the bicycle? I currently have a basket for my shopping but would like something more durable and waterproof.

The Bikebin is currently only available for attachment to rear pannier racks but we are working on expanding our models.

We like to go cycling as a family. Do you manufacture mini Bikebins for children?

Not at the moment, but we are always looking for new ideas and welcome suggestions.

What about fixing a Bikebin to tandems?

No problem. The same principle applies as with ordinary bicycles.

How do I attach the strap?

Feed the strap though the shoulder pad. Feed each end of the strap through the two buckles, one buckle either side of the pad. Thread the ends of the strap around the profiles at the front and rear of the Bin. Return each end to thread again through each buckle.
